Dr Jamal M. Moosa did his Masters in Political Science from the Centre for Political Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU, New Delhi, India). He was awarded MPhil degree for his dissertation tilted, ‘Ethnicity and Secessionist Struggle: A Comparative Study of Bifara and Eritrea’, from the Centre for West Asian and African Studies, School of International Studies, JNU. Subsequently, he went on to do his PhD on the theme, ‘Ethnic Conflict and the Problem of Refugees: A Comparative Study of Rwanda and Burundi’ from the same centre.
His areas of specialization are African Studies, International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights, and Conflict Studies. Currently, he is working on issues related to child soldiers, refugees and stateless persons, and Francophone Africa. He has also contributed articles to journals like African Quarterly and Journal of Peace Studies, and to edited volumes.
