Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship-CIE was established in 2015 as per direction of Govt. of India to focus on innovation and skill- oriented education in Govt. funded universities.
Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), JMI provides a unique platform for the students of university to fulfil their academic dreams and develop independent thinking to achieve goals of life.
It welcomes the innovative ideas of students, nurture them and provide a positive direction to these ideas so that students may become real innovators leading to the successful entrepreneurs.
Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship has two units:-
- Livelihood Business Incubation Centre
- Design Innovation Centre
A. Livelihood Business Incubation Centre – LBI: -
The Livelihood Business Incubation Centre was established with the funding of MSME in 2016. The basic objective of this incubator is to provide skill based training to the school drop outs and the un-employed youth especially from under privileged and weaker sections of the society. This unit is running skilled based training programs “Entrepreneurship Development Program – EDP” of 8 weeks duration as per MSME guidelines. These programs are aimed at self- employment generation (ATMA NIRBHAR BHARAT) for aspiring livelihood business entrepreneurs.
B. Design Innovation Centre – DIC:-
The Design Innovation Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia was established with the support of MHRD, Govt. of India, through Cluster Innovation Center, University of Delhi, Delhi. This Program was sanctioned to University of Delhi in 2015 with JMI as one of spokes. Under this scheme, the center has organized many innovative programs, talks and interactions. A number of innovative projects were completed by the students, some of them has got good media coverage and has been appreciated. Some of students has launched start ups under the guidance of CIE.
