Pradyumna Bag is a sociologist by training and specializes in rural and agrarian studies, Dalit and minority studies, sociology of education and environmental sociology. He has been teaching in the Department of Sociology, JMI New Delhi since 2008. He has authored a number of articles in reputed journals and chapters in edited books. His publications in journals and edited books extensively covered themes such as agrarian issues, caste and bonded labour (2016), environment, sustainable development and marginalised groups (2016), social and economic democracy and caste (2017), caste, culinary culture and food diversity (2018), dignity, identity and ‘unclean occupations in Indian Society (2019), Ethnocentric Pedagogy and tribal students (2020).


Currently, he is working on caste in rural and agrarian society, Dalit middle class, inequality in education, and agrarian distress.
