Short Courses
The centre organizes short Refresher and Orientation courses which are as follows
First Refresher Course
The Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (NMCPCR) organized the first Refresher Course in Conflict Studies that the UGC Academic Staff College has ever conducted, from November 17- December 7, 2005. Mr. Syed Shahid Mahdi, former Vice Chancellor, inaugurated the course on November 17, 2005, and it was attended by twenty seven senior faculty members of universities all over India.
First Refresher Course
In March 2006, the Centre held a four-day Orientation Programme in Peace Studies for a group of eighteen students from Loreto College, Kolkata. Students were introduced to the major theories and debates in Peace and Conflict Studies, refugee issues, caste conflicts, the role of multilateral and humanitarian agencies in conflict and transformation, as well as to approaches on intercultural exchange as a means of conflict mitigation and/or resolution.
Orientation Courses for College & University Teachers
In February 2007, the NMCPCR held a three-day Orientation Programme in Peace and Conflict Studies for a group of forty teachers from different universities and colleges in India. This programme was held in association with the Academic Staff College, Jamia Millia Islamia.
