Dr. Haroon Ashfaq completed his B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering in 1999, M.Tech. in Power Systems & Drives  in 2002 and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2008 from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India.
Dr. Haroon Ashfaq joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India in 2006. Presently he is working as an Associate Professor in the same department since 2018. Earlier, he had worked as Lecturer at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and DIT, Dehradun. He has a teaching and research experience of more than eighteen years. Presently he is teaching at undergraduate and post graduate level subjects in the area of Electric Machines & Drives, Switchgear and Protection and HVDC & EHVAC Transmission
Dr. Haroon Ashfaq is author/ co-author of five successful textbooks in the field of Electrical Engineering. He has published/presented more than 45 papers in various peer reviewed International conferences and Journals including IEEE, IET, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, MDPI, etc. His current research interest includes Renewable Energy Systems particularly Wind and Solar Energy systems, Energy storage systems and Analysis of Electrical Power Systems Distribution networks,
Dr. Haroon Ashfaq has successfully guided 05 Ph.Ds.  and presently guiding 05 Ph.D. research scholars. He has also guided more than 20 M.Tech. dissertations.
