The Genome Biology Lab, Department of Biosciences is mainly involved in Genomic and Epigenomic studies of human Cancer. In addition, the assessments on the therapeutic potential of certain herbal extracts/compounds are also on the anvil in the lab. The molecular evaluation and expression pattern of the cancer-associated genes involves the deciphering of complex cross talk at the level of DNA and RNA/Proteins. There is an‘state of art’ tissue culture facility in the lab, where some of the very important cancerous and non-cancerous cell lines are regularly and routinely maintained for the molecular analysis and therapeutic evaluation of certain herbal extracts/compounds. The motto is to impart training to the young scientist and work with team spirit in a tandem to ameliorate the suffering of mankind.
