Dr. Bulbul Dhar-James is a Professor in the Department of Political Science, and Coordinator, MA Human Rights Programme,JMI (Jamia Millia Islamia).
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:
She is a Post Doctoral Fulbright Fellow on Global Political Economy and Governance. Dr. Bulbul Dhar-James has done her PhD, on‘Politics of Economic Liberalisation in Urban Tanzania’, from the
School of Oriental anad African Studies, University of London as a Commonwealth Scholar. With an M.Phil and MA is from the Centre for Political Studies, JNU and she has a B.A. Honours from the Lady Sri Ram College, University of Delhi.
RESEARCH, PUBLICATION, PRESENTATIONS:
Her area of research include ; Human Rights, Political Economy of Globalization and Governance, African Studies and Gender and Empowerment .The areas in which she has been Keynote speaker and Resource Expert include, Globalisation and Good Governance, Conceptual framework of Human Rights, Gender & Empowerment, Public Administration, Public Policy and Mangement, Human Rights Implications of Science and Technology, Global
Political Economy, Basic Structure of the Constitution amongst others. Beyond the Academic Expertise, Prof Bulbul is a Resource Person and trainer for Capacity Building Initiatives, Leadership, Personal and Professional Roles (Work-Life Balance) and Gender Sensitization Programmes for Universities, Various Ministries and Institutions of the Govt of India (amongst others Haryana Institute for Public Administration, VV Giri National Labour Institute), British Council, American Center, Corporates and NGO’s.
EXPERIENCE:
- Dr. Bulbul Dhar-James has in the past besides been the Director of the Women’s Studies Centre also the Coordinator MA Political Science Programme though Open and Distance Learning Centre, in JMI. Prior to JMI she was a Consultant at the National Council for Applied Economic Research, New Delhi, where coordinated a Programme on Economic and Policy Reform in India. Prior to that she has taught in School of International Studies,JNU, LSR and JDM Colleges, Delhi University.
- She has also the experience of being a participant, Interactive Dialogue with Special Rapporteur, General Debate on Protection and Promotion of all Human Rights, Civil, Political, Economic, Social and Cultural including The Right to Development, at the UN Human Rights Council, Geneva. She is on the Editorial Boards of many International Journals, Programme Committee Member International Conference in Political Science, Sociology and International Relations, amongst others.
- Prof. Dhar-James is the Internal Complaints Committee Member for the Universities, Corporate and Government of India Ministries. She is also a Resource Person and Content Writer, Ministry for Human Resource Development (MHRD) Program of Post Graduate E-Pathshala in Women's Studies. She is besides on the Advisory of many NGO and Government Panels.
