Dr. Nadim Ahmad is working as Professor in the Department of Urdu, Jamia Millia Islamia. He joined Jamia Millia Islamia on July 16, 2004. Before joining JMI, he has been teaching in the Department of Urdu, University of Delhi, Kirori Mal College and Satyawati College, University of Delhi. His areas of specialization are Modern Poetry, Fiction and Criticism. He completed his Masters, M.Phil and Ph.D from the Department of Urdu, University of Delhi. The topic of his research was “A Critical Study of Urdu Long Poems in 20th Century (Excluding Narrative Poems)”.

He has successfully completed a Major Research Project entitled “Socio-Cultural Perspective of Long Poems in Urdu & Hindi: A Comparative Study” granted by the University Grant Commission in the year 2018. Dr. Ahmad has many important books to his credit which includes, Taraqqi Pasandi,Jadeediyat, Ma’bad Jadidiyat, Taabeer-o-Tafheem, Urdu Shairy Mein Hindustani Tahzeeb-o-Saqafat,Tagore Aur Iqbal and Tazkeer o Tahleel. He has also translated a book “Zaheeruddin Mohammad Babur: Person, Personality & Poetry” from Urdu into Hindi Language. He has written almost 70 research articles in different Magazines & Journals of repute.

As Professor in the Department of Urdu, Jamia Millia Islamia, he had carried multiple responsibilitiesof the University like Nodal Officer, IQAC, Warden, Sr. Warden, Dy. Proctor, Provost, Dr. Zakir Hussain Hall of Boys and Coordinator, Student Placement Cell, Member Tagore Research and Translation Scheme, Member DRS-Phase II & III. At present he is Dy. Dean of Students Welfare, Office of the DSW, Jamia Millia Islamia. Dr. Nadim Ahmad received a few significant awards and medals during his academic career which includes Dr.S.Radha Krishnan Gold Medal, Prof. Khwaja Ahmad Farooqi Gold Medal, Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Award and Delhi Urdu Academy Award for his Book Tazkeer o Tahleel etc.
