Dr. Shane Kazim Naqvi is a distinguished academician, researcher, and IT administrator with over 31 years of teaching experience in the field of computer science. He currently serves as the Offg./Additional Director of the FTK-Centre for Information Technology and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), a Central University in New Delhi.
Professional Leadership and Academic Background
Dr. Naqvi’s career is marked by high-level administrative roles, including serving as the Registrar of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women and as a Professor in the Directorate of Distance Education and Director at the Centre for Information Technology, MANUU, Hyderabad. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Jamia Millia Islamia and an M.S. in Software Systems from BITS Pilani. His academic excellence is rooted in a strong mathematical foundation, having stood first in both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mathematics at JMI.
Institutional Contributions and Digital Transformation
He has been a pioneer in the digital transformation of higher education institutions in India:
- ERP and MIS Development: He served as the Technical Coordinator for the JMI MIS Project, leading to the creation of a successful 18-module University ERP, making JMI a pioneer among central universities. He also contributed a Purchase and Inventory Control (PICO) module to the National EdRP Mission project.
- Infrastructure: Dr. Naqvi designed and implemented the JMI University LAN, which currently supports approximately 8,000 nodes, and established the university’s first WiFi network in 2002.
- Awards and Recognition: His design of the File Tracking System (FTS) earned Jamia Millia Islamia the Jury Award for "Best ICT Enabled Institution of Higher Learning" at the World Education Awards in 2011.
- NEP Implementation: As the NEP Nodal Officer, he successfully developed the framework for NEP implementation at the undergraduate level and created an online NEP-compliant registration and examination system.

Dr. Naqvi is a researcher with an innovation patent granted by IP Australia for the "COUsage Framework" applied to ERP projects. His key project involvements include:
- Cyber Security: He is the Principal Investigator for a Rs. 5.8 Crore Cyber Security Training Lab project sanctioned by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
- International Collaboration: He coordinated the Australia-India Students Mobility project, developing a comprehensive Credit Transfer Database to facilitate student movement between the two nations.
- Scholarly Impact: He has supervised multiple Ph.D. students in areas such as Wireless Networks, ERP Frameworks, and Big Data. His research papers are widely published in Scopus-indexed journals and cover topics like Machine Learning, Twitter data analysis, and Cloud Computing.
Technical Expertise and Training
Dr. Naqvi has obtained training on Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH v11) and an expert in modern technological domains including Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), DevOps, and Cyber Security. He is frequently invited to deliver lectures on topics such as AI in education, digital literacy, and cyber hygiene.
