Dr. Arvind Kumar is an Assistant Professor at Dr. K. R. Narayanan Centre for Dalit and Minorities Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He studied History for his bachelors at Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi. He finished his Masters in Politics and subsequently his MPhil and PhD at American Studies Division, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Before joining the centre where he is currently teaching, he briefly worked as a Research Associate at Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Jamia Millia Islamia for an NMCPCR – Asia Link Project titled “Peace Making and Peace Building in Europe and South Asia (Human Resource and Curriculum Development).” Dr. Kumar has helped conducting curriculum development workshops at New Delhi, Brussels and Dublin. He has been an Independent Fellow at SARAI, Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), Delhi and recipient of "Independent Doctoral fellowship" and "Fellowship for Data Collection from Abroad" under the aegis of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). He has taught undergraduate students at Department of Political Science, Zakir Husain Delhi College, University of Delhi. His research interests include Comparative Politics, History and Politics of Discrimination and Exclusion, Anti-Race and Anti-Caste Movements. His writings and reviews have appeared in South Asian History and Culture, South Asia: Journal of South Asian Studies, History and Sociology of South Asia, India Quarterly, Economic and Political Weekly, Pratiman, Mainstream, Indian Foreign Affairs Journal, The Book Review etc.
