Professor (Dr). Sabiha Hussain, is working as Professor and Director, at Sarojini Naidu centre for Women’s development Studies, JamiaMilliaIslamia, New Delhi. She has obtained her Masters’ M.Phil and Ph.D degrees from Centre for the Study of Social System, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Apart from teaching she has been extensively engaged in research on gender issues and the problems faced by women in contemporary times. She is the author of five books and many research articles published in the national and international academic journals and in edited books. Her area of interest are Gender and development, health and livelihood issues, minority issues including issues of Muslim women and their struggle for rights and entitlements both in the public and private domain. She is not only known in the academics but also as an activist promoting the rights of women and fighting against the discrimination and marginalization of women. She has presented research papers in the national and international seminars both within and outside the country. She has completed both major research projects funded by various government agencies. She has been selected for International Visiting Leadership Proramme, United States of America and has been sponsored by UN-HABITAT International Islamic University, Malaysia to attend one week workshop on Land, property and housing rights in the Muslim world . She is member of various committees within and outside the university and also on the governing board of non- government organizations. She is the editor of a peer reviewed journal Women’s Link since 2017. She is a recipient of Teacher Fellowship of University Grants Commission and General Fellowship of Indian Council of Social Science Research and National Merit Scholarship.
