Mathew Joseph C. is a Professor at the MMAJ Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He holds M. Phil and Ph. D degrees from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He was the Coordinator of the UGC-Centre for Pakistan Studies (2016-2020) at the MMAJ Academy of International Studies. Before joining Jamia Millia Islamia he served as a Senior Assistant Professor and Director (In-charge) of the Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS), University of Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir. His research areas include South Asian Studies, Studies on State, Civil Society and New Social Movements, Postcolonialism and International Relations. He has contributed several articles to journals and edited volumes. His major publications include two books titled Ethnic Conflict in Bhutan (New Delhi: Nirala Publications, 1999) and Desadesaanthara Raashtreeyavicharam (Thiruvananthapuram: Oruma Publications, 2015), a co-edited volume titled Pakistan in a Changing Strategic Context (New Delhi: Knowledge World, 2004), a Working Paper titled “China-South Asia Strategic Engagements: Bhutan-China Relations” (No. 157, 23 August 2012) published by the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore and two edited volumes titled Understanding Pakistan: Emerging Voices from India (New Delhi/London: Manohar Publishers/Routledge, 2015/2017) and Pakistan and the Muslim World (New Delhi: KW Publishers Pvt. Ltd., 2019).
