Prof. (Dr.) Sarah Hussain is Professor and Head of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Faculty of Management Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, with over 28 years of professional experience spanning both industry and academia. She has spent nearly a decade in the hospitality industry with organizations such as the Taj Group of Hotels and Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (The Times Group) before transitioning into academia, where she has contributed extensively to teaching, research, and academic leadership. Her academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Hospitality along with postgraduate and undergraduate professional education in hotel management. She is an alumnus of IHM Aurangabad. Over the years, she has played a key role in curriculum development, research supervision, and institutional initiatives, while also serving in various administrative and academic positions within the university. Her research portfolio is extensive and interdisciplinary, with publications in reputed international journals and edited volumes. Her key research areas include sustainable tourism, women in tourism and hospitality, entrepreneurship, service quality, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and the metaverse in tourism and hospitality. She has also contributed to critical conversations on digital transformation, future workforce readiness, and experiential tourism.

In addition to her scholarly contributions, she has edited books, contributed book chapters with leading international publishers, and holds a published patent on AI-driven automation in hospitality operations. She actively participates in national and international conferences as a keynote speaker, session chair, and resource person, and has organized several conferences, faculty development programs, and research initiatives supported by bodies such as ICSSR.

Prof. Hussain also serves on editorial and advisory boards of academic journals and is engaged with industry and policy platforms, including her role as an Advisory Member of the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WICCI) Hospitality & Tourism Council (NCR).

Through her work, she continues to shape future-ready professionals and contribute to advancing knowledge in tourism and hospitality on a global scale.
