Mohammad Kashif Khan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Before joining JMI, he was an Assistant Professor at the School of Livelihoods and Development, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad Off-campus. While working at TISS Hyderabad, he was also the Faculty Coordinator of the MA Development Studies Programme.
He has completed his PhD in Economics from the School of Economics, University of Hyderabad, MPhil in Applied Economics from the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Trivandrum, Kerala, Master of Population Studies (MPS) from the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai, and MA in Economics from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh. His research interest lies in Health Financing, Poverty, Inequality and Population Studies. He has extensively used large-scale datasets like the National Sample Survey Organization and the Indian Human Development Survey for his research.
He has taught courses like Urbanization and Development, Understanding Economy, Health Financing including Health Insurance, Philosophy Methods of Social Research-1, and Foundations of Data Analysis at the Master level and Advanced Statistics for Ph.D. He has published research papers in journals like the Economics Bulletin, Review of Development and Change and has chapters in edited volumes.
He is also the life member of Association of Gerontology (India), Indian Association for Social Sciences and Health (IASSH), Indian Political Economy Association (IPEA), Indian Health Economics and Planning Association (IHEPA) and Indian Association for the Study of Population (IASP).
He likes to read books on Economics, Philosophy of Statistics and Behavioural Economics.
