Dr Reshmi Kazi is Professor at the Department of Political Science, Jamia Millia Islamia. She was Associate Fellow in the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (2007–2017). Prof Kazi teaches Arms Control and Disarmament and has written and presented extensively on nuclear deterrence, nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear disarmament, arms control and nuclear security issues including a paper on Nuclear Terrorism and UN Resolution 1540: A South Asian Perspective, which she presented at the United Nations Headquarters, New York in October 2009. Her latest publication includes co-edited volume India and Global Nuclear Governance (Routledge). Dr Kazi received award for Excellence’ for work on Nuclear Security Studies in 2024 at “Women, Workforce and Viksit Bharat: A Blueprint for Inclusive Growth” programme jointly organized by SAHIT, Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and National Commission for Women (NCW). She is also the Director of the Center for Nuclear Non-Proliferation Studies, Council for Strategic Affairs, Washington, DC. Her aim is to research and publish on critical areas pertaining to nuclear security, nuclear non-proliferation, intersection of gender and nuclear policy and nuclear disarmament. She disseminates her knowledge among her students with the vision of building a dedicated cadre of nuclear experts who can contribute to future policy making on nuclear weapons related affairs.
