Sameer Ali is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at Jamia Millia Islamia. Before joining Jamia, he worked as a Project Scientist (postdoc) at the School of Public Policy, IIT Delhi. He holds a PhD in Community Resilience for flood-prone areas, acquired from IIT Kharagpur. Before that, he pursued a Master's in Environmental Planning from SPA Delhi and a Bachelor's in Architecture from NIT Calicut.

Apart from his academic pursuits, he has teaching experience as an ad hoc faculty at NIT Calicut and as an assistant professor at MTC School of Architecture Ernakulam. Beyond academia, he has worked on multiple projects as a freelance architect, including houses, educational and religious institutions, commercial complexes, and interior spaces.
He has several publications in Urban Planning, Community Resilience and Disaster Mitigation journals of high-impact factors, such as Natural Hazards and Journal of Urban Management. His research interests include Community Resilience, Social Capital, Disaster Mitigation and Transportation Safety Perceptions. He also reviews papers in several prestigious journals such as Sustainable Cities & Society, Climate Change, Journal of Architectural Engineering, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, etc.
