Dr Abid Haleem is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), a Central University in New Delhi, actively working in areas related to engineering management and the latest developments.
The JMI entrusted me with the additional charge of RCA during the COVID-19 in June 2021. With my vision, mission, strategic outlook, and professional approach, this Residential Coaching Academy has been transformed into one of the best-reputed training and guidance centres for Indian Civil Servants and produced toppers for UPSC CSE and State Civil Services.
Established Management education at degree level at JMI by starting AICTE Approved MBA (Eve)(Executive) program in 1995 and heading it for 14 years. Now, JMI has a Faculty of Management with three departments.
Established the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, which processes and streamlines university assessment and accreditation, standardising key inputs as per the standards established by NAAC and other global rankings bodies. Today, JMI is ranked third among the best Indian universities.
Taught at IIT Delhi as an Honorary Visiting Professor from 2007 to 2011.
His academic expertise includes supply chain management, green and commercially demanded specifications, additive manufacturing, technology management, healthcare technologies and their management, sustainability, and allied areas of engineering management.
Professor Haleem is on the list of top global scientists (Elsevier & Stanford) top 2 % since 2019. In 2020, & 2021 has a global rank in the top 0.4 %. In 2022-23, has a global rank of 10175. In 2023-24, has a global rank of 4089.
Presently is a Regional Editor at Global Journal of Flexible Systems Management (Springer, Indexed as A); Associate editor with MAPAN (Springer) and Journal of Orthopaedics (Elsevier), Guest Editing with a few Scopus / SCI-indexed journals. He has over 358 published works in SCOPUS-indexed journals and over 193 in SCI & SCIE-indexed journals.
Conferred with the fellowship of AGBA and has professional & life membership of IIIE, ISME, ISTE, GIFT, AMP, SCL, IICC, and ISC. Also, served as President and Secretary to Global Institute of Flexible Systems Management and AGBA.
He has undertaken consultancy work with DFID, Govt. of Odisha, Ed. CIL, etc. Worked as a High Court-appointed arbitrator for the construction projects at DIAC, High Court, New Delhi.
From 2006 to 2009, he was an Independent Director on the Board of Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd. Advised private businesses like DTDC Ltd. Been a member of the Ad hoc Task Force of Prime Minister Group of the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government of India.
Executed various research and support projects as Principal Investigator by getting grants from DST, AICTE, UGC, FIST, etc.
Is on the advisory/research boards of different institutions, universities, and colleges. As an expert in developing structures, systems and processes and developing for excellence. Actively involved in institution building and led multiple institutional activities related to policy planning, administration, accreditation, and recruitment in Indian and International institutions.

ACADEMIC POSITIONS
Presently, professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India, since 2002. He joined the Department at JMI as a lecturer in 1987 and then as Reader in 1992.
In 1986, I started my academic career as a Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Z. H. College of Engineering and Technology, AMU, Aligarh, India.
He was also an Honorary Visiting Professor at the Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi, from July 2007 to 2011.
