Pradyumna Bag has been teaching in the Department of Sociology at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, since 2008. He obtained his M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from the Centre for the Study of Social System, School of Social Sciences (CSSS/SSS), JNU, New Delhi. He has authored a number of articles in reputed journals and chapters in edited books. Agrarian sociology, rural sociology, education and society, as well as the sociology of marginalised communities are among his areas of interest. His publications in journals and edited books covered themes such as agrarian issues, caste and bonded labour (2016); environment, sustainable development, and marginalised groups (2016 & 2018); Ambedkar and social and economic democracy (2017 & 2021); caste, culinary culture, and food diversity (2018); dignity, identity and „unclean occupations‟ in Indian society (2019 & 2020); ethnocentric pedagogy and tribal students (2020); the impact of school closures among the socially and spatially marginalised groups (2022 & 2024); and unequal access to commons and intergroup dynamics in rural areas (2018, 2022, & 2024). His current research focuses on the political economy of caste in Odisha and the differential impacts of water scarcity on various groups in rural areas.
