About Jamia Millia Islamia

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), an institution originally established at Aligarh in United Provinces, India in 1920 & became a Central University by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1988. JMI is NAAC accredited A++ grade Central University. Today JMI caters to more than 20000 students on its roll, has around 800 faculty members with 10 faculties of learning, 39 departments, and 30 centres of research and excellence. JMI cumulatively offers around 190 courses at various levels. The University is marching ahead as a research oriented university with multiple faculty members in the Stanford University Top-2% list of researchers.

About The Department

The Department of Computer Engineering, JMI, was established in the year 2000. Since then it has emerged as one of the leading departments at the Faculty of Engineering. The department offers a comprehensive academic curriculum ranging from undergraduate to doctoral levels. The department provides an NBA-accredited B. Tech. in Computer Engineering with an Honors option and another B. Tech. in CSE-Data Science (SFS), alongside postgraduate offerings that include an M. Tech. in AI & ML and an M. Tech. in Data Sciences (SFS). Advancing its academic rigor, the department maintains a strong research focus for PhD scholars in cutting-edge domains such as AI, ML, NLP, Data Mining, Data Analytics, and Network Security. Beyond academics, the department boasts excellent placement records across both domestic and international institutions, driven by a highly accomplished student body that has consistently won numerous national and international awards in recent years, including multiple victories at the Smart India Hackathon in 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2018, and 2017.
