Library (Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion)

The Library of the Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion at Jamia Millia Islamia serves as a dedicated academic support unit for students, research scholars, and faculty members of the University. It functions as a specialised academic library that supports teaching, learning, and research in the broad areas of social sciences and interdisciplinary studies related to social justice, equity, and inclusion.

The library houses around 4,300 books, including both purchased and gifted titles, covering core areas such as social exclusion and inclusion, human rights, gender studies, backward classes, minorities, sociology, political science, economics, law, and education. In addition to books, the collection also includes theses and dissertations submitted by students and research scholars of the University, which document original research and serve as important reference sources for advanced study and future projects.

The library subscribes two newspapers, which help users stay informed about current affairs, public discourse, and developments relevant to academic and social issues.

The library offers a quiet and student friendly reading space and follows standard library practices for organisation, circulation, and reference use of materials. Access is primarily available to the Centre’s students, research scholars, and faculty members, with services such as book lending, reference assistance, and support for literature searches provided during working hours on all working days of the University.

By combining a focused, thematically rich collection with personalised user support, the library functions as an important academic hub within the University. It aims to promote a culture of reading, critical inquiry, and evidence-based research, and contributes to the broader institutional mission of advancing social justice, equity, and inclusive development through teaching, research, and outreach.
