The Proctor Office at Jamia Millia Islamia serves as the cornerstone of discipline and order within the university, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for academic and extracurricular pursuits. Guided by Ordinance 22 (XXII), the Proctor Office operates under the leadership of the Chief Proctor, appointed by the Shaikhul Jamia (Vice-Chancellor). The Chief Proctor is supported by a team of Deputy and Assistant Proctors, forming a cohesive unit dedicated to maintaining campus harmony.

The office is tasked with enforcing discipline among students, encompassing regular, private, and ex-students affiliated with various departments, centers, hostels, and schools of the university. It plays a proactive role in monitoring the overall disciplinary climate, addressing breaches, and taking preventive measures to forestall incidents of indiscipline. Preventive steps include issuing warnings, notices, and instructions aimed at regulating student behavior.

The Chief Proctor has the authority to investigate discipline case/matter, collect evidence, and recommend and/or implement penalties such as fines, suspensions, or restrictions, depending on the gravity of the situation. In matters requiring escalated intervention, cases are referred to the Discipline Committee in accordance with Ordinance 14 (XIV) Academic, for which the Chief Proctor serves as Secretary.

Beyond internal measures, the Proctor Office liaises with external authorities, including the Delhi Administration and Police Department, to ensure campus security and address law-and-order issues. It also oversees logistical aspects like maintaining vehicle parking for students in the campus.

With a commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and disciplined university atmosphere, the Proctor Office remains an integral pillar of Jamia Millia Islamia, promoting a balanced blend of authority and empathy in managing student affairs.
