Prof M. Kasim is a former Indian Broadcasting Engineers Service 1989 batch officer. He started his media career as Assistant Director Engineering, with Doordarshan, Min of I&B. He worked in diverse areas of broadcasting media technologies and systems including planning, development, installation, operation and management for about two decades. He was working as Director Engineering when he moved to the AJK MCRC in 2009 as Professor Media Technology. He has been ABU Research Fellow at the Science and Technical Research Laboratory, NHK, Tokyo and has undergone training at the Central Training Institute, NHK in broadcasting and media technologies in 2000 and 2002. He has been on deputation to serve the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for two years during 2015-17 as Advisor (Broadcasting & Cable Services) where he has worked on development of policy and regulatory framework for the evolving broadcasting media sector in India.
M Kasim teaches media technology subjects, broadcast media production and transmission and has been the coordinator for PG Diploma programme in Broadcast Technology and Master’s in Mathematics Education, a Joint Degree programme under Meta University Concept between JMI and University of Delhi.  He has been trained at IIT Mumbai on modalities of MOOCs platforms and was entrusted with the responsibilities of In-Charge MOOCs, AJK MCRC.  and Hon. Dy Director, IQAC of the University.  
He is a Life Fellow of Broadcast Engineering Society (India), Fellow of IETE and Ex Council Member of Broadcast Engineering Society (India). He is a recipient of Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Research Award, 2005 and Broadcast Engineering Society (India); and BES Award- 2008 for best technical work in the field of digital technology related to broadcasting. M Kasim holds M. Tech. from IITK, MA in Mass Communication from KU and Bachelors' in Engineering (Hons.) from AMU. His interest areas are emerging media technologies, broadcasting, e-learning, MOOCs, use of ICTs and diverse delivery platforms for education and Mass Communication.
