Dr. Tarjeet Sabharwal, Professor, AJK-MCRC, JMI is an outstanding academician, accomplished researcher, and an able administrator. Currently, she is also serving as Offg. Director of the Centre for Culture, Media, and Governance (CCMG) JMI. She has been the head of the Department of Journalism at the Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, University of Delhi for over two decades. Additionally, she was the Coordinator of the B.A. Journalism (hons) course offered in various colleges of the University.

An alumna of the prestigious Nizam College and the Department of Communication and Journalism, Arts College, Osmania University, Dr. Sabharwal has over 25 years of teaching experience and has authored a book, “Satellite Television: An Impact on Social Participation”, along with several publications in refereed national and international journals. Her areas of expertise are political communication, social media communication, media, democracy and governance, communication research methods and media and culture. She has presented many papers in national and international conferences in Mexico and Montreal (Canada) along with working for national English dailies and Doordarshan at Hyderabad.  She has published many chapters in books with Pearson and other reputed publishers. She has also been invited as resource person by various universities to deliver lectures in areas of Media and Communication Studies, Journalism, Communication Research Methods and Global Media and Politics. She has produced Content for UGC-CEC, MHRD for Vyas Education Channel of the UGC. She was the resource person as Content Writer for MOOC’s Project under swayam.gov.in on the topic, “Data Journalism”.

Dr. Sabharwal has been the Coordinator of the Syllabus Committee for the NEP 2020 syllabus under UGCF of the B.A. Journalism (Hons.) course 2022, University of Delhi.  She was assigned the role of Coordinator of the Syllabus Committee for the CBCS under LOCF of the B.A. Journalism (Hons.) course 2019 and FYUP (2014) Journalism (hons) programme University of Delhi. She also served as member of the Syllabus Formulation Committee for the 5-year Integrated programme of Delhi School of Journalism, University of Delhi, 2017.

She was also appointed as the social media Champion representing the University of Delhi under the Ministry of Education. In recognition of her talent, she was given the task of handling the social media handles of the University.
