Dr. Syed Mohd Abbas innate to the then small town AMROHA (known for its intellect) in Uttar Pradesh, India from there he passed 10+2. He obtained B. Sc. in Engg. (Civil) and M.Sc. in Engg. (Building Engg.) with honours from Aligarh Muslim University. After that he joined Dept. of Civil Engg., Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi as Lecturer. While in service he obtained PhD in Civil Engg. (Geotechnical Engg.) from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He has been actively involved in various academic and co-curricular activities at Departmental and University level. He has been guiding research in the area of Geotechnical Engg. His main areas of interest in Geotechnical Engg. are Ground improvement techniques, constitutive modeling, characterization of Pond Ash/ Fly Ash.
