Research is done on political, social, economic and cultural aspects of Indian history Emphasis is given to independent research and the use of primary sources. This programme is seen as a training course for further research at the doctoral level The emphasis is on Economic, Social and Cultural history, with specializations offered in Modern and Medieval Indian History. The medium of instruction is English.
