Ms. Sonali Sharma
Assistant Professor (A.J.K. Mass Communication Research Centre)
Sonali teaches film production and has been associated with the Centre from 2010 onwards. She pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Kamala Nehru College, Delhi University. As a graduation student, she interned with leading newspapers like Indian Express, Hindustan Times, Today, where many of her articles were published.
After graduating with Honours in Journalism; she worked as a Trainee Production Assistant with Zee Sports where her work involved selecting, sourcing and reporting news and feature items. She was responsible for writing, editing, proof-reading scripts; managing assignments to meet tight deadlines, as well as coordinating and liaising closely with internal production teams.
She completed her Masters degree in Mass Communication from AJK MCRC and soon after received the PSBT-MCRC fellowship. Her short film On the Verge for PSBT was telecast on DD News & DD1. It was also screened at Open Frame 2010. The film explores the threat to the delicate balance between the different bio-diversities that exist in Delhi, against the backdrop of its metamorphosis into a concrete jungle.
She joined NDTV in 2007 as a member of the core production team of NDTV Profit where she worked as a News Producer for the primetime bulletins Business Primetime & Profit at Night, and other news programming shows. She also assisted in live PCR operations as a Bulletin Producer. In addition, she produced various shows like Profit This Week and other series/features like We the SMEs, The Rail Story, India & the Rising Sun, Cities on Fast Track, India’s French Liaison which were received very well.
Some of her work as an editor includes editing short India & Indian culture-centric feature stories for FOXTEL, Australia during the Commonwealth Games 2010.
