M.Sc. Mathematics Education (MME) is a Joint Degree Programme offered by Cluster Innovation Centre, University of Delhi and AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia under the Meta University concept. The objective is to create inter-institutional synergy for collaborations and to optimize use of their existing expertise and resources. This unique programme aims to provide students new opportunities for learning and innovation in trans disciplinary and trans institutional environment beyond rigid institutional boundaries.

The Meta University idea was envisioned by the National Knowledge Commission (2009). In 2013, DU and JMI joined hands to start MME Meta programme as per the approval of the UGC. Mathematics education is an area of concern across the world. Mathematics being one the founding subjects for addressing everyday problems and for research and development needs to be presented in way that students could connect their everyday experiences mathematically and develop an affinity with the subject. Alternate mathematics pedagogy coupled with use of ICTs and effective communication techniques would be key tools to achieve this goal. The MME programme was conceived with these objectives. The students of the programme attend courses at CIC DU and AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, JMI. The admission process, evaluation and assessment process is coordinated between DU and JMI following their respective Ordinances and Statutes. A Joint Degree is awarded to the students on completion of the programme. The students with joint MME degree are eligible for appearing in NET (Education) and for pursuing higher education in relevant descipline.
